Random-ish Sketch
I've been entirely too lazy with updating this blog, and actually doing stuff for that matter. I don't even care that no-one visits it. Its meant to keep me churning. Here is a random-ish sketch i did at work. We are working on a project with multiple cartoon-y animals., which is why it isn't so random.

Sculpture Studio: Full Figure Female Part III (February)

Final week with this model. Fixed a ton of issues with it, now im pretty happy with it. I would love another week, but to be fair I did miss the first one so its my own fault.Vitaly stepped in and did some work on the feet. The amount of control that guy has with his fingertips is amazing!

Sculpture Studio: Full Figure Female Part I (February)

First session with this model, reused the armature and clay from the full figure male. Blocking in proportion and direction. Still need to work a lot on those things, not just with this study but in general. With out proportion, form and direction, there is nothing. That pretty much explains why I'm trying to do more traditional sculpture work, to really master those fundamentals that are so easily lost in CG.

Unfinished Zombie Dude

Had some down time today at work and found this in my files. It was originally for a Mudbox contest last year. I never finished it, but i now I really feel like revisiting it. He does have a body, but its pretty terrible so im just posting the head. There will be many more details like staples/stitches, more wrinkles etc. I might even pose him and put him in an environment.

Sculpture Studio: Full Figure Part I (Jannuary)

This is my progress from today's sculpture studio session. Its a full figure male study. Today was basically prepping the armature, blocking out proportions and establishing direction. Its looking OK. Even at this stage it should feel more alive. Full figures are my weakest area. Thankfully they are one of the hardest things you can ever draw, sculpt paint, etc. Ill be updating my blog every Saturday with my progress.
Some BG info on the studio. Its a really small space at the 5 points in LIC, run by two awesome Russian sculptors, Larisa Dekermendzhi and Vitaly Patrov. Each session is 3hrs (i cant help but be 30min late EVERY time), and focuses solely on the live model.

Random Face

Kind of misleading. Its not sooo random. At my work, we had an internal project going. This is my take on what I thought the face should look like. The project has been canned, so i stopped working on it. Done is Zbrush 3.0. I think i tore the head off of the superaverage man.ztl. Never remeshed it, i still might. Its kind of an idea that has fizzled out at this point.
First Post: A Not So Lazy New Year
Hello All,
And by all, I mean no one. I am starting this "artist blog" to both keep myself in check and get some useful feedback from the creative community. Of course, that requires some people to read it, and then they need to feel compelled to comment. It will be a blog sketchbook, one of the many out there, and probably not even close to the quality of some of those out there. However, If I don't try, how could i ever know if it would have worked? I am a 3D modeler by trade, but I will be posting traditional sculpture, photography, paintings, drawings, or what have you. So, I say to all of you non-existent commenters, enjoy, and thanks for keeping me in check.
